Itineraries

In Tighza you stay in the home of the El Qasemy family which is traditionally built of stone and earth. We have a modern bathroom with hot shower and western style toilet. We accommodate individuals and groups of up to 12 people. (If the house is full there are other homes which we use).

Please pay Mohamed in Pounds Sterling or equivalent in Dirhams or Euros, he will make the local payments to the other service providers in local currency:

Homestays £25 per adult per night including meals at the Homestay or picnic lunches for walks where applicable.

Tipping is normal in Morocco. So keeping this in mind please tip homestay families, guides, 4 x 4 drivers and mule handlers generously. Small tips are also given for service at cafes and restaurants. It is also customary to leave a few dirhams for using public toilets.

For quotes on group itineraries please contact Carolyn by e-mail homestaysmorocco@yahoo.co.uk or by phone - inside Morocco dial 0677840487, outside Morocco 00212 677840487.

Other trips involve 6 hours walk a day on average visiting the dunes and rare watering holes.

The starting point is the camp of the Erg family at Erg Lihoudi:

Bookings taken from September to May. In June, July and August is not advisable to travel to the Sahara due to the searing heat.
