Homestays is a sustainable tourism project which directly benefits the local communities. This means your money goes directly to the household and village where you stay to help improve the lives and environment of the people. We encourage guests to get more involved with project work, for example bringing children's clothes and shoes which are given to poor families - see the Projects webpage for more information.

If you want to see the flowers in the valley it is best to visit between from April to June. To escape the humidity of cities like Marrakech and Ouarzazate during the summer months June to September Tighza is ideal as it is always cooler than the cities (by several degrees) and rarely humid.

Homestays was created by Carolyn in March 2007 following a life changing holiday when she fell in love with the Berber people, their simple lifestyle and beautiful mountains. She is now married to Mohamed El Qasemy, who was born and brought up in Tighza, and they have opened their home for Homestays with their family. Mohamed and Carolyn are currently finishing a kasbah in the village for those who prefer a little more comfort than Homestays can provide.
